ABS Portable Flood Barriers
No installation โ set the panels down where the water comes in, lift them away afterwards.
Free Australia-wide shipping
An 8-panel pack of portable ABS flood barriers for entrances, driveways, warehouses, car parks, and commercial access points. Nothing is fixed to the building: the panels stand freely where they are placed, so there is no anchor channel, no drilling, and no installation before an event or after it. Set them across the opening when water is coming, take them away when it is gone. The panels hold back and divert floodwater rather than forming a watertight seal, so some seepage can occur. Panels sold online are 750 mm high; 1,000 mm and 1,200 mm heights are available on enquiry. Need 16 panels? Order two packs.

Before you order
How do ABS portable flood barriers work?
Each panel is an L shape: an upright wall on a flat base. The base points towards the water, so the floodwater stands on it and its weight holds the panel down. The higher the water, the harder the panel is pressed onto the ground. Seal strips along the underside and the side edge close each panel against the ground and against the panel beside it. Nothing is filled with sand and nothing is fixed to the building.
Do they stop all the water?
No. The panels hold back and divert floodwater, so most of the flow changes direction, and some seepage under and between the panels can still occur. For an opening that floods again and again, aluminium flood barriers are fixed to the wall and clamp rubber seals against the frame and the floor.
What surface do they need?
A firm, level surface such as concrete, because the seal strips need something flat to press against. Sweep grit and leaves away before setting the panels down.
How do I set them up?
Put them out before the water arrives. Carry each panel by its handle, stand it with the base towards the water, and lock it to the panel beside it. Work along the opening until the line is closed. No tools are needed, and one person can do it.
How many panels do I need?
Each 750 mm panel is 830 mm wide, and panels overlap where they lock together, so allow a little less than that for each one. A pack holds 8 panels; order two packs for a longer run. Send us the width you need to cover and we will confirm the number of panels.
How do I close the gap where the barrier meets a wall?
Press the last panel firmly against the wall. A strip of closed-cell foam stuck to the back edge of that panel fills the gap. Where the panels run past the side walls of an opening, such as a roller door, plastic sheeting taped across the join does the same job.
Can they be left out in the sun?
The panels are UV protected against material degradation and colour fading. We still recommend setting them up when they are needed and packing them away after use.
What happens if the water rises above the panels?
It flows over the top. The panels sold online are 750 mm high, and 1,000 mm and 1,200 mm panels are available on enquiry, so choose a height above the deepest water the opening has seen.
How do I clean and store them?
Hose the panels down after use and clear away any mud or debris. Household cleaner removes stubborn dirt. Let them dry completely, then stack them; the panels nest into each other, so a pack takes little room.
ABS barriers, aluminium barriers or sandbags?
ABS barriers need no drilling, which suits renters, openings you cannot fix to and sites that need to move the barrier from one entry to another. Aluminium flood barriers are made to measure and fixed to the opening, and go up to 2 m. Water-activated sandbags are a quick top-up for gaps and one-off events.
